An associate professor in the biochemistry and molecular biology department was recently selected by her peers to serve in leadership positions in upcoming Gordon Research Conferences.

Three retiring professors were honored Wednesday for their years of service to the department.

James Smith of Dr. Maor Bar-Peled' lab successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

The title of Smith's dissertation was "The role of UDP-apiose in Biosynthesis of Plant Wall Polysaccharides and Bacterial Glycans."

Robert Piel of Dr. Amy Medlocks' lab successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation Thursday, July 12, 2018.

Diep Nguyen of Dr. Michael Adams' lab successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation Thursday, July 12, 2018.

The title of Nguyen's dissertation was "Understanding Redox Metabolism in Pyrococcus furiosus for Efficient Metabolic Engineering."
