The Heather C. Wright Cancer Research Fund

Mission

The Heather C. Wright Fund’s mission is to support creative, basic scientific research targeted to discovering a cure for cancer.  The Fund will support research on innovative projects that speculate on a potential cure, address elements of the proposed cure and demonstrate a logically developed hypothesis.  The intent of the Fund is to expand the scope of research on cancer and not to simply supplement ongoing, funded research initiatives.

Goal

The goal of the Fund is to support basic cancer research at the University of Georgia  with the potential to secure major extramural funding that will have major impact on the treatment of cancer.  By support of young researchers or instrumentation, we will foster the discovery of new treatments for cancer that will profoundly impact those suffering from this disease.

Awards

Proposals for funding from the Heather C. Wright Cancer Research Fund will be accepted from Department of Biochemistry & Molecular faculty annually for promising new research toward a cure for cancer. Proposals will be reviewed by a committee named and chaired by the Head of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and composed of senior faculty conducting research in cancer biology. Please contact the Head for further information.
