Image: The 2025 Sisodia-Patel Prize for Outstanding Research by an Undergraduate in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Graduation was awarded to Yeongseo Son, who also earned a B.A. degree in Anthropology and Certificate in Immunology. Yeongseo's research was conducted in the lab of Professor Balazs Rada from the Department of Infectious Disease. She studied inhibition of neutrophil activity by ecotin in cystic fibrosis and won several awards as an undergraduate, including a fellowship at MIT, a GCURS Bioengineering Award, American Association of Immunologists Young Scholar Award, ABRCMS Immunology Best Presentation Award, and a Blue Key Society AT&T Student Leadership Award. She also is an author on two scholarly publications. Yeongseo will begin graduate work at Stanford's School of Medicine in the fall and plans to earn a PhD in immunology. Congratulations, Yeongseo!
