POST-DOCTORAL
POSITION AVAILABLE:
Two positions will be available in the summer of 2004
for postdoctoral researchers in various research projects in the Moremen lab.
Please see the descriptions of ongoing lab research projects HERE.
Applicants with 0-3 years post-doctoral experience are preferred, although applicants
with greater experience will also be given consideration. One position will
require experience with recombinant protein expression of mammalian cDNAs in
fungal and mammalian systems as well as protein purification and characterization
(enzyme assays and kinetic analysis). Experience in N-linked oligosaccharide
isolation and characterization would be preferred but not required. The second
position will emphasize structural biology, requiring a candidate with knowledge
of crystallographic techniques including data processing, phase determination
and improvement, model building, and protein structure refinement. Candidates
having strong skills in molecular biology and protein biochemistry with an interest
in learning the techniques for structural biology will also be considered. The
latter position will be in collaboration with the lab of Dr. B.C. Wang, Georgia
Research Alliance Eminent Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and
Director of the UGA X-ray Crystallography Center
RESEARCH
TECHNICIAN POSITION AVAILABLE:
Positions available for one or more research technicians working on a variety
of projects relating to glycoprotein biosynthesis, glycoprotein catabolism,
or carbohydrate binding proteins. Please
see the descriptions of ongoing lab research projects HERE.
Experience is preferred
but not required in recombinant DNA methods, microbial techniques, and protein
purification/characterization. Projects will include preparation of cDNA expression
constructs, maintenance of mammalian and fungal cultures, and protein purification
and characterization. A B.S. in a biological science is required.
