HUMAN EMBRYONIC STEM CELL BIOLOGY

The University of Georgia announces a new 5 year Program in "Basic Human Embryonic Stem Cell Biology" funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of General Medicine. The Program will be dedicated to the understanding of basic hESC biology, early human development and establishing new technologies for the generation of therapeutically useful cell types. The Program, directed by Dr. Stephen Dalton, is seeking applications from post-doctoral fellows and experienced research technicians to participate in projects relating to the following areas relating to hESC biology.

  • Cell signaling and self-renewal
  • Mechanisms of cell fate commitment
  • Cell cycle control
  • Epigenetic regulation
  • Glycobiology of hESCs
  • Endoderm and pancreatic differentiation
  • Multipotent cardiogenic progenitors
  • Technology development
  • Natural product screens

The Program will be closely affiliated with the Southeast Stem Cell Consortium (www.sestemcells.uga.edu) and will be highly interactive with other stem cell, cancer and developmental biology Programs and Centers in the Southeast region.
