Connecting the projector to a notebook

Step 1: Connect the power cord between a power source and the power cord connector on the projector.

Step 2:
Connect the projector to your notebook computer using the vga cable.

If you are trying to connect to a PC notebook (your pc can be on or off at this time):

  • Connect one end of the vga cable to the computer connector on the projector.

  • Connect the other end of the vga cable to your PC notebook's video out port.

  • Turn the projector on using the power switch on the projector. The projector will take at least a minute or two to warm up and for the image to appear at full brightness.

  • If your PC notebook is off, turn it on.

  • In most cases, at this point, the projector should automatically synchronize with the notebook and the computer image should be displayed through the projector. If it doesn't...

On your PC, press the Fn+F7 keys to cycle through the three display modes: (1) LCD + CRT, (2) LCD only, (3) CRT only. Remember, it takes a few seconds for the image to synchronize so wait between each key-shift.

If this does not work, then right-click anywhere on your desktop and go to Properties > Settings. You may see a picture of two screens marked "1" and "2". Click on "2" (which refers to the external display) to make it active.

If your PC supports dual displays then you will see an option for "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor". If you select this option, then you will have to drag your, e.g., PowerPoint, window to the external display. If you do not select this option then your external display and your notebook display will be the same - "mirror copies".

If all else fails, please refer to your PC notebook's user guide.

If you are trying to connect to an Apple notebook computer:

  • Make sure your Apple notebook is off at this time (it can be connected when the notebook is on but it is easier / safer this way).

  • Connect one end of the vga cable to the computer connector on the projector.

  • Connect the other end of the vga cable to your Apple notebook's video out port using the correct adaptor.
  • Turn the projector on using the power switch on the projector. The projector will take at least a minute or two to warm up and for the image to appear at full brightness.

  • If your Apple notebook is off, turn it on.

  • In most cases, at this point, the projector should automatically synchronize with the notebook and the computer image should be displayed through the projector. If it doesn't...

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Displays and click on "Detect Displays".

If all else fails, please refer to your Apple notebook's user guide.
