Course Announcments:

Focus: Post-transcriptional and post-translational regulation of gene expression. This will primarily be a literature-driven course. The instructors will give general lectures to introduce the topics. These topics will then be explored in great depth by student presentations/class discussions of selected manuscripts related to the topic.

Presentations: A 500-750 word synopsis of the presented paper must be turned in at the beginning of the discussion class by the discussion leaders as well as 5 questions that will be used to stimulate discussion of the paper. Presenters should be prepared to present the assigned literature in an effective manner and be knowledgeable of background material. All students should be prepared to discuss the material in a detailed manner to (e.g., to explain hypotheses, interpret figures, explain advantages/drawbacks of experimental approaches, suggest future directions, etc.). Grading: Attendance (50%), Participation (25%), and Presentation (25%)
